Mykonos Mykonos' CuisineThe island's food forms part of typical Greek cuisine. The rural areas' food is characterized especially by a variety of fresh vegetables and fruit, seafood and olives. Potatoes, aubergines and zucchini are prepared in many different ways, cooked or baked, accompanied by a fresh salad with feta cheese or tzatziki. White bread must not miss in any meal. Main dishes are fresh fish and meat, prepared on the traditional wood-stove grill or stewed. Just like other Greek, the Mykonosi accompany their meals drinking a lot of water. National drinks are the anise schnapps ouzo and ice-cold frappe, a special kind of soluble coffee which is drunk with lots of sugar in order to refresh. Briefly, the cuisine is very healthy and very well compatible. |
