Money, Banks, Post Offices and Health

In all bigger towns you can find banks with cashpoints. Credit cards are usually accepted in restaurants and supermarkets. In smaller shops, on markets and remote tavernas or cafes, money in cash is required.

Banks and post offices are open Monday to Friday, opening times vary and, especially during the summer months, there is a long midday break.

Yellow letter boxes are to be found every where. Airmail to central-European countries takes about 10 days.

Sanitary supply does not correspond to central-European standards; equipment is very often old, but nevertheless the staff is well skilled. Big hotels dispose of their own doctor, who must be paid in advance. In the capital there is the Mykonos Hospital. A private international travel insurance is highly recommended. Pharmacies can be found in Mykonos City and all bigger towns. They are open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and stock all usual medicaments. No vaccinations are required.
